WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE SKIN WITH THE PASSING OF THE YEARS?

What happens to the skin with the passing of the years:

– More than 25 years old: the aging process starts to be visible and old cells replenish more slowly.

– More than 30 years old: more fine wrinkles appear due to the deterioration of collagen and elastin, and the soft skin under the eyes starts to lose thickness.

– More than 40 years old: deeper wrinkles start appearing in the areas surrounding the lips and eyes. Grooves appear in the forehead, and curvaceous wrinkles can become under-eye bags.

– More than 50 years old: age spots start to onset; they are very common in 90% of people’s skin.

GROWING OLD GRACEFULLY

We all know that exercising regularly and following a balanced diet are the keys to feeling healthy and looking good. Nevertheless, we also know that nothing can stop the passing of the years; whether we like it or not, we all grow old and that is reflected in our face. There are ways to keep a youthful look. For example:

  • – Use sun protection creams every day
  • – Do not smoke: this habit is associated with the premature onset of wrinkles
  • – Have a healthy diet, eat fresh fruits and vegetables
  • – Drink plenty of water
  • – Hydrate the skin with creams to keep it soft and to avoid dryness.

With the passing of the years, it is inevitable to avoid the formation of fine lines and wrinkles because the skin loses its flexibility and elasticity. That is the skin’s natural process and it would be unnatural to avoid it indefinitely. Nevertheless, we have to consider the way this wrinkles make us look. The winkles between the eyebrows can make us look tired, grumpy or even older than we already are. But that is not it: wrinkles are mentally associated with negative emotions. After certain age, the skin experiences a series of hormonal changes. Menopause is the main culprit of this alterations, it accelerates the glycation, phenomenon that has two effects:

1- It hardens the collagen fibres, which is why the skin loses its firmness and the face outlines become blurry.

2- It deactivates antioxidant enzymes that are key for the skin, like catalase. Without protection, the skin loses its ability to defend and recover, and the production of collagen decreases. Glycation deactivates the creatine, key enzyme in the production of ATP: energy carrier in the cells. As a result of the decrease of energy, the skin can’t repair itself.

MY SKIN IS DRY AND DULL. IS IT JUST LACK OF HYDRATION?

WHAT CAUSES OUR SKIN TO AGE?

The younger you look, the better you feel about yourself. However, it is common knowledge that skin aging is an unstoppable process. As it progresses, it changes our appearance and the characteristics of our skin making it more fragile and less elastic.

Age, hormones, sun exposure, and tobacco consumption are a few causes of the onset of wrinkles and folds. As we age, hyaluronic acid, which retains water, decreases in our skin.

Besides, glands produce grease and lose their effectiveness. As a result, the skin becomes drier, and it loses tone and shine. Another trigger factor is gravity, which pulls the skin down making it hung downwards.

Facial aging has two main components:

  •  Dynamic wrinkles: caused by muscle hyperactivity.
  •  Static wrinkles: produced by loss of volume.

Treating both of these components produces natural, balanced, and refined effects. One method to deal with both types of wrinkles is to combine fillers with hyaluronic acid fillers.

The former relax hyperactive muscles to treat dynamic wrinkles; the later replace lost volume and treat static wrinkles replenishing the natural content of hyaluronic acid: touch, pleasure, and sensuality.

TIPS FOR A BEAUTIFUL SKIN

If we take care of our skin, we not only preserve its beauty but also do we protect the biggest organ of our body. We introduce you some tips to keep the skin healthy and pretty.

Clean from the inside out: Begin your day drinking hot water mixed with lemon juice to help the body eliminate toxins. Drink plenty of water to moisture the skin and compensate the lack of environmental humidity.

Protect the skin: We are exposed to ultraviolet rays even if it is winter; therefore, you must always use sunscreen. If you go to the beach or you go skiing, you must use a SPF 30 (or more) sunscreen.

Keep healthy habits: have a healthy diet, eat 5 pieces of fruit or vegetables every day, exercise regularly, and get enough sleep.

Smoking is prohibited: Tobacco consumption is one of the biggest causes of premature aging. It produces wrinkles and it constrains the tiny blood vessels that irrigate the skin, which reduces the essential oxygen supply.

Beware of hot water: When washing your skin, remember that warm water works just as good as hot water. When you finish your bath, you should moisture your skin with creams, lotions, or other products.

Moisture your skin: Moisturizers protect the skin’s natural barrier which holds the skin´s hydration and keeps it smooth and flexible. It combats environmental stress.
